Prescriptions

You can order online once signed-up.  Please contact reception or download our registration form here to sign up for this service. 

Alternatively, you can request repeat prescriptions on the paper "Re-Order Form" that comes with each prescription or you can make a request in writing to the practice including your name, date of birth and address.  

Please always check the 'Re-order Form' for any messages from your GP.

We do not accept repeat prescription requests over the telephone.

You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy three to five working days after you have ordered it.

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

• on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
• at your GP practice
• at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

Sometimes medication that is normally on your ‘Request new prescriptions’ list may appear on the ‘Unavailable repeat prescriptions’ list.  It is still possible to request these prescriptions but you are required to tick the ‘I’d like to request an expired repeat prescription’ box and specify as free-text which prescriptions you require.

These prescriptions have not been removed from your repeat medication list but require a clinician (GP, nurse or practice pharmacist) to review and reauthorise the prescription before it can be automatically reissued.  This review is usually required once per year.  The clinician may be able to reauthorise the medication by reviewing your records, or may need more information, or sometimes may require you to make an appointment for review.  If a review appointment is needed we can normally issue an interim prescription for medications that are safe to issue before the appointment can be arranged.

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

• coughs
• colds
• sore throats
• tummy trouble
• aches and pains

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.

Please see the important information about weight loss medications under the Useful information tab.  This is especially important for women who are using private weight loss medication and are prescribed contraception or hormone replacement therapy (HRT).

At times our practice pharmacist may need to make changes to the brand or form of your medications.  This may be due to probelms with medication supply.
